Health Department Transitioning Public Health Priority from Testing to Vaccination

Additional COVID-19 testing sites available in County and moving to 1b vaccination phase

Paris, KY – Health officials from the Bourbon County Health Department (BCHD) have announced plans to transition their public health priority from providing novel coronavirus
(COVID-19) testing, to COVID-19 vaccination, effective Monday, February 8th. The logistics involved with scheduling and administering future 1st and 2nd dose vaccines will demand an all-hands-on deck approach, which will require BCHD to utilize their resources previously allocated to their facility’s testing operations.

Walgreens on Ash Dr. in Paris offers daily no-cost COVID 19 PCR testing with results in approximately 24-72 hours.  Bourbontown Pharmacy on Main St. offers daily rapid antigen COVID-19 testing with results in approximately 20 minutes.  These locations are meeting the needs of COVID 19 testing in our community.  Please visit
https://www.walgreens.com/findcare/covid19/testing or https://bourbontownpharmacy.com/ to
schedule your COVID 19 test.

The Bourbon County Health Department will utilize our time and resource to focus on COVID 19 vaccinations.  We appreciate the public’s understanding of this necessary public health shift and continue to encourage everyone to visit other local testing sites if experiencing symptoms of COVID-19.

COVID-19 Vaccine Update: BCHD is now moving into phase 1B that will cover our 70+ year old residents.  If you are on our wait list, we will be reaching out to schedule an appointment soon.

Appointments will be based on the amount of vaccine we received.  Example, if we receive 100 doses, we will reach out to the first 100 on the waiting list.  Please know that we will be receiving a small amount each week and will deplete that supply each week.  We will remain in phase 1b until our 70+ year old’s that want vaccinated are, or the supply equals the demand.  If you’d like your name on the list, If you have not signed up yet, please call us at 859-987-1915 or visit

If you have already signed up, no need to sign up again.

If another vaccine opportunity becomes available, such as through KY Horse Park through Kroger Pharmacy or UK Healthcare, we advise you to take that opportunity as soon as possible. We thank you for your patience during this unprecedented time.
