Ronald Lee “Ronnie” Chanslor, widower of Elizabeth Ann Brooks Chanslor, departed this life on Monday, January 23, 2023, at Bourbon Heights, at the age of 89 years. Ronald was born in Bourbon County on August 22, 1933, the son of the late John Robert and Anna Lee Ewalt Chanslor, was a graduate of Bourbon County High School where he played basketball. Ronnie was a former partner of Farmer’s Supply as well as having worked as a parts manager at Keller’s John Deere, and a lifetime farmer. He was a member of Ruddles Mills Christian Church where he served as a deacon and taught Sunday School for over 50 years, was the Sunday School Superintendent, played on the church softball and basketball leagues. He loved being outdoors gardening, hunting, fishing, and watching U.K. basketball.
Surviving are three sons, Sam (Melanie) Chanslor, Lee (Jane) Chanslor, and Doug (Tonia) Chanslor; five grandchildren, Rebecca Shelpman, Jonathan (Katelyn) Chanslor, Jessica Chanslor (Wes Fluty), Alexis (Justin) Spry, and Caleb Chanslor. Also surviving are six great-grandchildren, Cain and Cavin Shelpman, Marin, Patrick, and Isaac Chanslor, Addison Spry; and his Ruddles Mills Christian Church family. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his close friend, Mary Ogden.
The funeral service for Ronald Lee Chanslor will be at 11:00 a.m. on January 30, 2023, at Ruddles Mills Christian Church with Rev. John McGuire officiating. Interment will follow in Paris Cemetery with casket bearers being Johnny Wyatt, Billy Wyatt, Steve Standiford, Mike Williams, Jonathan Chanslor, Caleb Chanslor, Cain Shelpman, and Cavin Shelpman. Honorary bearers are Board of Ruddles Mills Christian Church, Henry Norris, and Jimmy Mason. Visitation will be on Sunday, January 29, 2023, at Ruddles Mills Christian Church from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
