Laura Alice Walker Franks

Laura Alice Walker Franks, 94, widow of the late Robert Cecil Franks, died Sunday May 14, 2023, at the Stanton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Stanton, KY.

She was born in Mt. Sterling, KY to the late Pete and Gwendolyn Guest Walker.  Laura was a retired employee of the Bourbon County High School, loved watching sports and fishing and was a great example to her family by being a hard worker.  She was a member of Evergreen Baptist Church, Mt. Sterling from a young age.

She leaves to cherish her memory three children, Seleste Rice, Garnett Lane (Marvin) Haggard and Rodney (Mary) Cosby, Sr.; fifteen grandchildren, Rodney Cosby, Jr., A.J. Cosby, Joi Cosby, Ivan K. Rice, Dwayne (Lisa) Rice, Terry (Sheila) Rice, Yvette (Adama) Ndiaye, Odell (Rachel) Cosby, Jr., Bryson Cosby, Travis (Lindsey) Haggard, Artie Myers, Tony Campbell, Chris Campbell, Shawn Trumbo and Tanner Arnold; host of great grandchildren, host of great great grandchildren; one brother, Ret. Colonel Paul (Emma) Walker; three sisters, Lucille Johnson, Gwen (Donald Lee) Hooten and Margaret Ann Walker and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by two sons, Odell Cosby, Sr. and Larry Cosby; grandson, Larry “Bugs” Myers; two brothers, Ace Walker and Joe Walker; three sisters, Carlena Walker, Mattie Walker and Nannie Hester Lee and one son-in-law, Robert W. Rice.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Saturday May 20, 2023, at the Lusk-McFarland Funeral Home, 1120 Main St., Paris, KY by Rev. Gerald Dodge and Rev. Tony Gooch.    Burial will follow in the Evergreen Memory Gardens, Paris, KY.

Visitation will be from 11:00 AM Saturday May 20, 2023, until the hour of service at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons.

The family would like to thank the Stanton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and Hospice East for their service and care they gave to their mother.
