Traffic Advisory: KY 1298 Closed in Nicholas County Sept. 11-15 for Bridge Replacement

Tenth of a mile east of Harrison County line

FLEMINGSBURG, Ky. (Aug. 31, 2023) – The Kentucky Department of Highways will temporarily close KY 1298 (Hick Hardy Road) near the Nicholas-Harrison county line Sept. 11-15 for a bridge replacement.

Beginning 8 a.m. Monday, Sept. 11, crews will close KY 1298 a tenth of a mile east of the Harrison County line (milepoint 0.1) to dig through the highway to replace a large, deteriorated culvert with a new aluminum arch culvert.

The road will remain closed around the clock, day and night, during construction. The road is expected to reopen by 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 15, or before if possible.

During construction, barricades will be placed at Lester Road in Nicholas County and about one quarter of a mile from the county line in Harrison County. Electronic message boards have already been set up to give traffic advanced notice of the closure.

All traffic should use KY 32 (Headquarters Road/Millersburg Road) to detour through Bourbon County.

Road work schedules may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen delays occur. Motorists are asked to heed all warning signs, slow down in work zones and remain aware of workers and construction equipment when traveling.
