Floyd “Toby” Crockett Jr
Floyd “Toby” Crockett Jr, 61, of Prospect, Ohio and formerly of Paris, KY passed away unexpectedly in the early morning of Tuesday, April 9, 2024.
Toby was born March 7, 1963 in Paris, KY the eldest son to Floyd & Judith (Barrnett) Crockett Sr. Toby graduated from Elgen High School in 1981. When Toby was 15 his parents moved the family up to Ohio, kicking and screaming.
Toby met the love of his life at a local pizza parlor, Shirley (Jenkins). They married in the spring of 1990. Toby owned and operated his own roofing company called TC Construction; he sold the business in 1994.
Toby is preceded in death by his father Floyd Crockett Sr. and step-father Ray Miller, paternal grandparents Willis (Mary) Crockett, maternal grandparent Dorothy (Willard) Barrnett and mother-in-law Pauline Jenkins, uncle Frank & Dorothy Crockett, son in law Ed Beckelheimer Jr and sister-in-law Jackie Sargent.
He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years Shirley; Mother Judith Miller; brother Tim Crockett; children Stacy Beckelheimer, Stephanie (Dallas Axline) Van Brimmer, Bruce (Sara) Van Brimmer, Laura (Andy) Berry and Jon Saxton; grandchildren Brandon, Caden, Jordan, Josh, Pammy, Kalab, Mashayla, McKenzie, John, Alyssa, Kira and Kaleb; sisters-in-law Janet (Tim) Compton, Alice (Jeff) Clark and Robin Jenkins; brother-in-law James “Jimmy” (Kim) Jenkins Jr; cousins Jessie Crockett, Steven Crockett, Elizabeth (Jeffrey) Lowe, Jane Burris, Karen Wallace and Barbara Crockett; and numerous friends.
Toby enjoyed hunting for arrowheads with his brother. He was published in a history book for the largest undocumented Arrowhead still intact. He was also a master carpenter and built amazing furniture pieces. He had a green thumb, and enjoyed fishing. He enjoyed riding his candy apple red Harley Davidson, shooting pool and playing poker. Toby’s greatest joy in life was his family. He will be remembered as the fun, loving, selfless, laidback, and sometimes onery spit-fire that he was.
Friends joined the family on Monday, April 15, 2024 from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm at the Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center, 101 Valleyside Drive, Delaware, Ohio 43015, where and open time of sharing will begin at 8:00 pm.
