Paris Fire Department explains new hydrant color coding
The Paris Fire Department, with the help of the co-op program with Paris City Schools have started to paint all the fire hydrants throughout the The City of Paris water system. These hydrants will be painted in accordance with National Fire Protection Association color coding system. This system allows our crews to quickly identify which hydrant would be the best to use in the case of a fire in your area. The different colors indicate different pressures for each hydrant. Just a reminder that if you have a City of Paris fire hydrant on your property, please keep all grass, weeds, shrubs, and bushes trimmed back and away from the hydrant, along with any decorative fences or items that may hinder the use of the hydrant.
