Betty Catesby Woodford Duty

Betty Catesby Woodford Duty died in Woodstock, Georgia, on June 14, 2024. Betty was born in Mount Sterling, Kentucky, on August 24, 1933, the only child of Nola Highland and John T. Woodford. She grew up on the family farm on Harrods Creek Road in Bourbon County. She graduated from Paris High School and the University of Kentucky. When her husband served in the army in Germany, she spent a year there taking classes and learning the language. She married Daniel Duty in 1954 and the family lived in Paris, Kentucky, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Toledo, Ohio, before settling in Georgetown, Kentucky in 1971.

Betty was very community minded and a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church. She moved to Woodstock, Georgia in her final years to be near her daughter and son-in-law. The family is grateful for caring assistance from Windsor Gardens in Georgetown, Martha Wells, and Benton House of Woodstock.

Betty loved farming, teaching, golf, playing bridge with friends, horses, dogs, and UK sports. She is survived by Dan Duty, her husband of 70 years, and her daughters, Janet (Rich) Culatta, and Marian (Jim) Penn. She was dedicated to her family and is lovingly remembered by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, cousins, and friends.

Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, June 22, 2024 at the Paris Cemetery Chapel. Hinton-Turner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. www.hintonturner.com
