Irene Groves McKinney
Irene Groves McKinney of Paris, widow of E.V. McKinney, departed this life on Monday, August 12, 2024, at Bourbon Heights, having attained the age of 102 years. Irene was born on September 26, 1921, in Hopkins County, Kentucky the daughter of the late Henry and Jennie Tyson Groves, was a graduate of Antioch High School, a member and board member of the Bourbon County Homemakers, active in Center Hill PTA, and worked countless hours at the Food Pantry. She was also a member of First Baptist Church where she was active in WMU, and a member of the Prime Timers. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Rey, and her siblings, Mabel Strader, Elizabeth Sparks, Helen Arnett, Leonard Graves, and Leon Graves.
Surviving is a daughter, Yvonne (Tom) Hume; sons, Donald R. McKinney, and Jon V. (Karen) McKinney. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Vinson Hume, Bill (Kim) Lander, Jennie Alveti, Lori (Paul) Campbell; great grandchildren, Madison Lewis and Taylor Campbell.
The funeral service for Irene Groves McKinney will be at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at Hinton-Turner Funeral Home with Pastor Kyle Sullivan officiating. Interment will follow in Paris cemetery with casket bearers being Bobby Sturgeon, Tim Sosby, Tully Williams, Lindsay Prebble, and Philip Hurst. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. until time for the service.
