Edward Herman Loeffler, Jr.

Edward Herman Loeffler, Jr., aged 94, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 11, 2024, in Lebanon, Ohio. Born on June 30, 1930, in Riverside, Illinois, to the late Edward Herman Loeffler, Sr. and Nell Magrini Loeffler Rhode, Edward’s life was marked by his loving nature, wisdom, and selfless dedication to his family and community.
Edward’s journey through life was one of commitment and service. After proudly serving his country in the United States Army during the Korean War he obtained his mechanical engineering degree. He later retired from W. S. Tyler Engineering, where his expertise and dedication were highly valued. A member of the Catholic Church of the Annunciation in Paris, Kentucky, Edward’s faith was a cornerstone of his life, guiding his actions and providing comfort in times of need.
In his personal life, Edward was a devoted husband to his wife, Carol Hirsch Loeffler, and a loving father to his daughters, Julianne (Craig) Struening and Annemarie (Dan) Worobetz. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, his son Carl Stuart Loeffler, and his sister Joan Hein. His legacy continues through his five grandchildren, Felix (Julie) Spittler, Kathryn Spittler, Nestor (Julie) Worobetz, Noah (Elizabeth Barmash) Worobetz, and Samantha Worobetz, as well as his three great-grandchildren, Natalie, Elizabeth, and Juliet Spittler. Additionally, he leaves behind his daughter-in-law, Margaret Loeffler, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Edward’s interests were a reflection of his character—thoughtful, engaging, and always with a touch of joy. He was an avid reader, always with a book at hand, ready to delve into new worlds and ideas. His love for woodworking was more than a hobby; it was a means of expression, creating pieces that were both functional and beautiful, much like the life he led. Edward found great joy in spending time with his grandchildren, imparting wisdom and sharing in their discoveries and accomplishments.
One could often find Edward riding around the retirement community in his golf cart, his beloved dog Toby by his side, greeting neighbors with a warm smile and a friendly wave. This simple pleasure was a testament to his appreciation for life’s small moments and the community he held dear.
In remembering Edward, one is reminded of the words of Ralph Waldo Emerson: “To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded.” Edward truly succeeded in making a difference in the lives he touched, embodying the essence of this quote through his actions and the love he shared.
Edward Herman Loeffler, Jr.’s life was a tapestry woven with love, service, and the joy of meaningful connections. He will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him, but his legacy will live on in the hearts and memories of his family and friends. Farewell, dear Edward, until we meet again.
