Obie Thomas “Tommy” Bowles

Obie Thomas Bowles, affectionately known as Tommy, passed away on February 13, 2025, at the age of 75. He was born on April 4, 1949, in Montgomery County, Kentucky, to the union of Obie and Emma Bowles. Tommy most recently lived in Paris, Kentucky.

Tommy dedicated over 50 years of his life to working as a truck driver. He was a kind-hearted man who loved his family tremendously and was known for his passion for cooking, canning, and gardening. Tommy’s Christian faith guided his life, and his loving presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know him.

For 42 years, Tommy shared his life with his loving partner, Wanda Curtis. He is survived by two sons, Travis (Brandi) Bowles of Richmond, and Chris (Susan) Bowles of Clay City. Tommy was also a proud grandfather to six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He is further survived by two sisters, Velma Johnson and Nancy Jones, both of Mt. Sterling.

He is preceded in death by both of his parents, and one brother, Charles Bowles.

Funeral Services were Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at the Herald & Stewart Home for Funerals Chapel in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky. Burial at Machpelah Cemetery.

Pallbearers: Ray Bowles, Mark Bowles, Billy Bowles, Tim Bowles, Michael Creech, and Dale Lockett

Honorary Pallbearers: Neal Smits, Travis Smits, Rankin Hatfield, Tyler Box, and Jim Winburn

Arrangements are under the direction of Herald and Stewart Home for Funerals, 1002 Woodford Dr. Mt. Sterling, KY 40353.
