Virginia Mae Long Nolen Benton

Virginia Mae Long Nolen Benton, a treasured soul revered for her unwavering kindness and warmth, peacefully passed away on March 15, 2025, in Paris, Kentucky. Born on April 4, 1946, in Lafayette, Indiana, to the late Gilbert and Audrey Lee Long, Virginia’s life was a testament to love and perseverance.
Growing up in Lafayette, Virginia carried the essence of her childhood into her life’s work, spreading care and compassion as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Bourbon Heights Nursing Home. It was here that her loving nature brought comfort to countless individuals and their families during her years of dedicated service.
Virginia’s heart found its truest joy in the robust branches of her family tree. She was the cherished mother of two daughters, Tammy Nolen and Audrey Nolen Jones, and a proud stepmother to Sheila Benton Blanton. The matriarchal love Virginia provided will forever live on through her seventeen grandchildren and twenty-five great-grandchildren. With the unwavering support of her best sister-in-law and friend, Betty Marie Nolen Adams, and her ever-present best friend, Rose McNay, alongside dear companions Dee McKinney, Nikki Leonard, and Javier Olivares, Virginia cultivated a life rich in relationships.
Her personal interests mirrored the creativity and vitality she embodied. Virginia possessed a passion for puzzle books, knitting, and crocheting. She coupled her love of reading the Bible and listening to gospel music with her daily four-mile walks with friends, a routine that not only reflected her physical dedication but also her commitment to fellowship.
Virginia’s light continues to shine in the legacy left behind—a legacy characterized by love, kindness, and friendly spirit. Her life’s narrative is a compilation of every person she touched with her nurturing heart. Although Virginia joins her beloved husband Clifton Benton, her ex-husband Willie Nolen, Jr., her precious son Billy Keith Nolen, grandson Billy Keith Nolen, Jr., granddaughter Natachia Jones, sister Roxie Long, and son-in-law Ronnie Jones in rest, her memory will perpetually illuminate the paths of those she loved.
Memorial gathering will be at the Faith Christian Church 2859 KY HWY 36, Cynthiana, KY on April 5, 2025 from 6-9 PM.
