David Lee Gilliland

David Lee Gilliland, age 88, of Paris, passed away on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Baptist Health Lexington, surrounded by his family. David was born in Charleston, WV on August 10, 1937, the son of the late Edward Lawrence Gilliland and Vaughnie Raines Gilliland. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 57 years, June Taylor Gilliland; in-laws, Jesse Lee and Ellen Smith Taylor, Deborah Taylor; Beverly (Larry) Rife; brothers, Charles (Natalie) Gilliland, Paul Gilliland; and sisters, Eloise (Les) Hancock, Doris (Earl) Adkins, Peggy (James) Henderson, and Kay (Jack) Worley.
Surviving is his son, Jeff (Denise) Gilliland of Carlisle, and his daughter, Dawn (Jeff) Damron, of Paris, Kentucky. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Craig (Lauren) Gilliland of Richmond, Cade (Maddie) Gilliland of Millersburg, Adam (Megan) Auxier of Berea; Ben (Jenna) Auxier of Berea; step grandchildren, Arin Damron, Zack Damron, both of Lexington, Katie (Brandon) Fletcher of Versailles; six great grandchildren, Madelyn and Katelyn Gilliland, James and Kolton Auxier, Lucas Auxier, Calvin Fletcher, and a special friend, Becky McCarty.
After graduating high school, David served his country in the United States Air Force, was a Kentucky Colonel, had retired from CMWA, and was a member of the Clintonville Christian Church. The thing that brought him the most joy was Christmas and spending time with all his family.
The funeral for David Lee Gilliland will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 14, 2025, at Hinton-Turner Funeral Home with Rev. Charles H. Kemp officiating. Interment will follow in Clintonville cemetery. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. until time for the service.
