Todd Smith

Todd Smith, 70, passed away on November 3, 2025, at his home in Leesburg, Kentucky, where he and his beloved wife of 39 years, Donna, built a life filled with laughter, family, and enduring friendships.
Born in Cynthiana, Kentucky, on May 18, 1955, Todd was a lifelong resident of Harrison County and deeply proud of his roots. His life was grounded in family, friendship, and love.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James W. and Patricia Smith.
Todd is survived by his wife, Donna; their three children, Hannah (AJ Bruwer) Smith of Versailles, KY; Ross Smith of Lexington, KY; and Charlie (Allison) Smith of Columbus, OH; his brother, James Clay (Betsy) Smith of Wilmington, NC; sister, Jenny (Jerry) Barnett of Lawrenceburg, KY; nephew, Bert Smith, also of Wilmington, NC; and mother-in-law, Betty Hannah of Cynthiana, KY.
Along with his many dear friends, Todd leaves behind special neighbors, Charlie and Dwyla Garnett and David and Pam Henson, whose love and support during his illness were a blessing.
A graduate of Harrison County High School, Todd went on to earn his degree in accounting from the University of Kentucky and later attended the Graduate School of Banking at LSU.
Todd enjoyed a long and fulfilling career in community banking, where his dedication to his customers and colleagues set him apart. Many who worked alongside him remember his patience, mentorship, and the genuine interest he took in helping others grow.
Above all, Todd was truly genuine. He was devoted to his family, a loving husband, proud father, and cherished brother and son. He was respected throughout the community for his kindness, integrity, and generosity. If Todd was your friend, you were better for it — though you probably endured a few of his famously bad jokes along the way.
Todd’s happy place was the beach in South Carolina, especially Isle of Palms, where the Smith family gathered year after year for beach vacations filled with card games, bocce ball, treasure hunts, golf and endless laughter. Long after the kids had grown, he and Donna continued their stays at the Sea Cabins — and Todd liked to say there wasn’t a unit in all 30 he hadn’t stayed in.
A celebration of Todd’s life will be held Thursday, November 20, at Leesburg Christian Church. Visitation will take place from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm followed by a brief service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Leesburg Christian Church, 6005 KY Highway 1842 N, Cynthiana, KY. 41031.
