Eugene Thomas “Petey” Grigsby, a man known for his humor, adventurous spirit, and friendly demeanor, passed away on December 15, 2025, at the age of 81 in Winchester, Kentucky. He was born on July 28, 1944, in Paris, Kentucky to the late Henry and Lorine Blackburn Grigsby and grew up alongside a lively family that held a special place in his heart throughout his life.
Petey was a 1962 graduate of Paris Western High School, where he made numerous friends and left a legacy of laughter. After high school, he joined the workforce at Square D where he dedicated several years, building not only a career but also friendships that would last a lifetime.
Outside of work, Eugene was known for his love of riding motorcycles. His passion for the open road led him to become a proud member of the Cobra Motorcycle Club in Lexington, Kentucky, where he found a sense of adventure and a brotherhood that complemented his free spirit.
His love of life was contagious and he never missed an opportunity to have a good time with his family and friends, often being the life of the party.
Affectionately known as “Petey” by those close to him, Eugene’s humor brought smiles to many and his caring nature made every encounter with him a pleasure. He left an indelible mark on the lives he touched, and his stories and laughter will echo in the memories of his loved ones.
Petey is survived by his two sisters, Mae Roberts and Anna “Florine” Marks; his devoted friend, Linda Nichols; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins who will miss his presence deeply. His legacy will continue to live on through the anecdotes and adventures shared amongst those who knew him best.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving daughter, Gina Grigsby; brothers, Henry Grigsby Jr., Charles Grigsby, and George Grigsby; and sisters Carolyn Higgins, Margaret Wheeler, Marie Crooks, and Mary Grigsby. Each held a special place in his heart and now he is reunited with them in eternal peace.
Petey’s life was a testament to enjoying every moment, being present with loved ones, and sharing a good laugh whenever possible. His infectious spirit will forever be remembered and cherished. As we bid farewell to Eugene Thomas “Petey” Grigsby, we celebrate a life well-lived and a man well-loved.
