Yvonne McKinney Hume
Yvonne McKinney Hume, age 72, wife of Tom Hume, died Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at Saint Joseph Hospital. She was born December 24, 1953, in Pikeville, Kentucky, daughter of the late Elvin Vincent “E.V.” and Irene Groves McKinney. Yvonne was a 1971 graduate of Bourbon County High School, attended Austin Peay State University, and was a retired outside plant manager for GTE/Verizon.
She was a member of First Baptist Church-Paris where she had formerly served as a youth minister, member of Daughters of the Nile Akielo Temple #128, served as a road runner for the Oleika Shrine Temple, former treasurer of Troop 110 Boy Scouts of America, and head of concessions for Lexington Christian Academy.
Yvonne faithfully attended all Class of 1971 reunions, was involved in the GTE Employees Club, enjoyed travelling, going to the beach and Shriners trips, and had participated in modelling in her youth.
She never met a stranger and was full of compassion and kindness and was generous to charities. With her love of adventure and travel, Yvonne made friends everywhere she went and was a lady you would never forget. She would help anyone and do anything for others, her compassion knew no boundaries or limits.
Yvonne is survived by her husband, Tom; son, Vinson Hume (Alexandria Shambery); step children, Jennifer Beth Whitt, William Lawrence Hume; five grandchildren, Chelsea Banks, Harrison Wood, Nicholas Wood, Lancer Scott Wood, Anniston Wood; two great grandchildren, Harlow Marie Antionette Banks, Kennedy Whitt; two brothers, Donald (Missy) McKinney, Jon (Karen) McKinney; nieces and nephew, William (Kim) Lander, Jennie Alveti, Lori (Paul) Campbell-Lewis; and several great nieces and great nephews. In addition to her parents, Yvonne was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Rey.
Visitation was 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, March 22, 2026 at the Hinton-Turner Funeral Home with a Daughters of the Nile service that evening. Funeral service was 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 23, 2026, at the funeral home with Pastor Kyle Sullivan officiating. Burial was in the Paris Cemetery.
