Jerry Michael “Mike” Scenters
Jerry Michael “Mike” Scenters, a cherished husband, beloved father, grandfather, and friend to all, passed away on March 15, 2026, at the age of 66 in Lexington, KY, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, generosity, and love. Born on May 8, 1959, in Richmond, KY, Mike was known for his friendly demeanor and a remarkable ability to fix anything he put his hands on.
Mike is survived by his devoted wife of 49 years, Martha “Marty” Franklin Scenters, and their loving children, Shea (Krystal) Scenters and Jamie (Nathan Davis) Scenters. He will forever be remembered in the hearts of his five grandchildren – Ariel Brown, Benjamin Brown, Harleigh Scenters, Katie (Dakota) Scenters, and Michael Scenters – whose lives he brightened with his joyful spirit. His sister Kathy Childress and brother Ricky Scenters, along with his adoring sister-in-law “Wife #2,” Mary “Winnie” Franklin, hold invaluable memories of Mike.
Always surrounded by friends, Mike leaves a space that cannot be filled in the lives of Helen Jones, Valerie and Mike Rosnik, and their family. His nieces, nephews, and cousins remember him for his ever-present smile and willingness to lend a helping hand. Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Peggy Ball Scenters; his sister, Kay Nash; his mother-in-law, Betty Franklin, and his brothers-in-law, John Franklin and Earl Childress.
Upon retiring as the Manager of Sunnyside Farm, Mike devoted himself to his passions. Riding his Harley on the open road, enjoying classic cars, and grooving to the tunes of Earth, Wind, and Fire, Mike lived his life to the fullest. His warm and approachable nature meant he never met a stranger, and his deep Christian faith guided his actions throughout his life.
Mike’s extraordinary ability to fix anything made him the go-to handyman in his circle. However, it was his heart of gold that truly set him apart. Those who knew him will remember Mike for his kindness and generosity – a man who put his family, especially his grandchildren, above all else.
As we bid farewell to a man who could light up a room with his presence, we celebrate the time we were fortunate enough to share with him. The world was indeed a brighter place with Jerry Michael “Mike” Scenters in it, and his memory will continue to inspire those he touched for generations to come.
Funeral services were conducted at 1:00 PM Thursday March 19, 2026, by Bro. Andrew Singh at the Lusk-McFarland
