Carolyn Lee Riddell Eason

Carolyn Lee Riddell Eason, age 84, of Paris, passed away peacefully April 4, 2026. She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Clyde Eason.

Born July 25, 1941, in Lexington KY, Carolyn was the daughter of the late Redmon Lee and Sally Bush Riddell. She was a part of the inaugural graduating class from the “brand new” Bryan Station High School in 1959, where she served as a senior class officer. She then went on to study Education at the University of Kentucky and began her career with the Fayette County Public Schools teaching at Ashland Elementary.

After marrying Clyde, the couple decided to move out of the city to start a family and settled on a small farm in the Clintonville area of Bourbon County. Carolyn started the Country Land Preschool which she operated for many years out of her home, giving local children a great foundation before entering Kindergarten.

Carolyn eventually went back to college and received her Masters of Education from Georgetown College, and found her way back into the classroom, teaching kindergarten at Center Hill Elementary. Eventually she taught first and second grade and Reading Recovery at Bourbon Central Elementary until her retirement.

It was after leaving teaching that she found what may have been her greatest love, being a grandma and caring for her three granddaughters.

Besides her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by her brothers, Milton Dwelly and Jeffrey Sparks, and a sister, Shirley Markle.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by sons, Brent (Joanna) Eason, Cashiers, NC, Brandon (Amy) Eason, Lexington, KY, granddaughters, Kylie Eason, Audrey Eason and Elizabeth Eason, brother, Ronnie (Jennie) Riddell of Lexington, brother-in-law Wayne Eason, Cynthiana, KY and multiple cousins, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 5:00 – 8:00 Wednesday, April 8 at the Lusk McFarland Funeral Home, 1120 Main Street, Paris, KY. Funeral services are 11:00 am at the First Baptist Church, 919 Pleasant Street, Paris, KY, with burial to follow at the Lexington Cemetery.
