Eugene Leroy Hill
Eugene Leroy Hill, age 89, of Paris, Kentucky, passed away on April 29, 2026, in Paris, Kentucky. He was born on July 23, 1936, in Paris, Kentucky, and lived a long life marked by hard work, devotion to family, and a kind spirit that touched those around him.
He was a thoughtful and friendly man who will be remembered for the steady presence he brought to his family and community. Eugene spent his working years as a farmer from Bucknore Farms, where he dedicated himself to the land and to the values of perseverance, responsibility, and honest labor. His life reflected the quiet strength of a man who understood the importance of doing his work well and caring for the people he loved.
Eugene enjoyed the simple pleasures of life and found happiness in the moments he shared with others. He loved fishing, spending time with his grandchildren, and going to flea markets. He was also an avid UK Basketball fan and followed the team with great enthusiasm. These interests brought him joy and gave him many opportunities to make lasting memories with family and friends.
He is survived by his three children, Connie Tapp, Joann Hill, and Eugene “Holly” Hill, Jr.; twelve grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two brothers, George Hill and Russell Clay Hill; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. His family was a source of great pride to him, and he cherished the bonds he shared with each of them throughout his life.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine Christopher Hill; his parents, Russell Edgar Hill and Edith Ritchie Hill; two sons, David Hill and Jamie Hill; two brothers, James Hill and Charles Hill; three sisters, Elizabeth Hill, Jewel Hill, and Roselynn Cruse; and his grandson, Scotty Tapp. Though he experienced many losses in his lifetime, he remained a man of strength and grace, carrying his memories and loved ones in his heart.
Eugene’s life was one of dedication, love, and enduring family ties. He will be remembered for his gentle nature, his friendly manner, and the many ways he showed care for those around him. His legacy lives on in the family he helped build, the values he passed down, and the many lives he touched along the way. His memory will be treasured by all who knew and loved him.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Tuesday May 5, 2026, at the Millersburg Cemetery, Millersburg, KY.
