Harvey Thomas “Tommy” Gillispie

Harvey Thomas “Tommy” Gillispie, 95, of Bourbon County, husband of the late Mary Della Letcher Gillispie, passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2026 at Willowbrook Healthcare in Carlisle.
Born June 20, 1930 in Bourbon County to the late Carl Thomas and Mabel Wagoner Gillispie, Tommy lived the majority of his life in the Jackstown area. A lifelong farmer, he was involved in many aspects of agriculture over the years having worked for Farmers Tobacco Warehouse, Paris Independent Tobacco Warehouse, Millersburg Coal and Lumber, and Millersburg Fertilizer. He was also a talented carpenter. A longtime member of Herrington Methodist Church, he served in many capacities including Youth Director and Trustee. Tommy was affectionately called “Pappaw” by just about everyone.
Surviving are two daughters, Pamela Gail (late Kevin) McTeague and DeAnna Faye (late Brent) Jinks; a sister, Alice Love (late Dr. Emerson) Cochran; two sisters-in-law, Faye Letcher and Shirley Letcher; three grandchildren: Christopher Gail (Julie) Gillispie, Dwight Thomas Gillispie and Isaac Boone (Cassidy) Jinks; three great-grandchildren: Kayla Gillispie, Kelsey Gillispie and Jilson Thomas “J.T.” Gillispie; three great-great grandchildren: Lilliana and Chevelle Wells and Wrenley Markel, with another on the way; and a special “adopted” granddaughter, Jennifer Cook.
Also preceding him in death were a son, Stephen Thomas Gillispie; and a brother, Freddy Gayle (Linda) Gillespie, along with several brothers and sisters-in-law.
Services were 11:00 A.M. Saturday, May 30th at Herrington Methodist Church by Pastor April Jolly burial followed in Carlisle Cemetery.
Visitation was after 5:00 P.M. Friday at Mathers-Gaunce Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Herrington Methodist Church.
