Gary Lee Ammerman
Gary Lee Ammerman, 65, passed away peacefully at his residence on Wednesday July 8, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. He will be remembered as a devoted son, father, papaw, family member, and friend whose life was marked by love, strength, and kindness.
He was born at Harrison Memorial Hospital December 19, 1960, to Mattie Taylor and the late Givens Lee Ammerman. Gary was also preceded in death by his wife, Karen Belle Ammerman.
In addition to his mother, Gary is survived by his three girls, Elizabeth (Corey) Wood, Shannan (Scot) Allison, and Ashley Ammerman; brother George (Jacky) Ammerman; sister Barbara (Collie) Collins; grandchildren Chloe & Ryan Wood, Maddie Allison, Taylor and Jase Moore.
Gary was a lifelong farmer whose hands and heart were rooted in the land that he loved. Whether tending to cattle, raising crops or operating his bulldozer, Gary approached every job with quiet determination, unmatched work ethic, and a willingness to help anyone in need. Farming was never just an occupation, it was his way of life. He found great joy in working the land, caring for his family, and using his talents to serve neighbors and friends.
To those who knew him, Gary will be remembered not only for the work he accomplished but for his wisdom, sense of humor, and compassionate heart that left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
He leaves behind family and friends who will forever cherish his memory and carry forward the values he lived by. Though he is no longer with us, his love and the memories he created will remain in the hearts of all who knew him.
A celebration of Gary’s life will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at Ware Funeral Home, officiated by Sammy Harris and Dr. James Abernathy, eulogy by Emily McCauley. Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 14, 2026, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Burial will take place after the service at Jacksonville Cemetery in Paris, KY. Gary’s girls cordially invite family and friends to join them at the “Party Barn” for a meal after the service concludes at 1640 Leesburg-Newtown Rd. Paris, KY
Pallbearers include George Ammerman, Timmy Evans, Jeff Gregg, Mark Barnes, Brandon Evans, B Moore, Will McCauley, Steve Wiglesworth, Jacob Rankin, and Charles McMullen. Honorary pallbearers include Whitney Evans, Logan Hayes, Mike Routt, Phillip Cropper, Ronnie Garrison, Dennis Jones, Jaybird Adams, John Puckett, Corey Sears, Tom Leach, Paul Hurst, Dr. Robert Biddle, Rob Cole, Shawn Lee, Evan Hayden, Dr. Patrick Ford, Corey Wood, Scot Allison, Kenneth Sharp and his Leesburg Community of friends.
His family asks that he be remembered not only with sadness, but with gratitude for a life well lived and the countless ways he enriched the lives of others. In lieu of flowers, family requests donations be made in his memory to the pancreatic cancer research foundation at www.pancan.org.
