Rebecca Gay Myers Wasson

Rebecca Gay Myers Wasson, age 96, widow of Roger Deland Wasson, died Friday, August 7, 2026 at her home. She was born January 31, 1930 in Clark County, daughter of the late Vernon Anthony Myers and Odella Williams Pendleton. Rebecca was a graduate of Paris High School and Fugazzi Business College, accepted Christ at a young age and was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) where involved in many aspects of the church, and retired from the Clay Ward Agency with over 60 years of service. She was a member of Bourbon County Homemakers, Bourbon County Garden Club, Community Action Council, a Kentucky Colonel, and had been involved in many different organizations when her children were students. Rebecca loved her family and was proud of all of them.
She is survived by a daughter, Gail (Bill) Blackburn; son, Roger Deland (Kim) Wasson II; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-eight great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; sister, Alice Watts; son-in-law, Gregg (Dawn) Coons; dear friend and caretaker, Sara Trumbo; and a host of nieces and nephews that she dearly loved. In addition to her parents and husband, Rebecca was preceded in death by a daughter, Sallie Talbott Coons; and granddaughter, Elizabeth Blackburn Fraley.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, followed by the funeral service at 1 p.m. with Rev. Judi Ring officiating. Interment will be in the Paris Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Byron Coons, Scott Coons, Dr. Luke Blackburn, Zach Wasson, Joseph Wasson, Michael Wasson, and Max Wasson.
