Billy Charles Lemons
Billy Charles Lemons, 79, passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2026 at the Lexington-VA Medical Center.
Born May 29, 1947 in Harrison County to the late Leo Earl Lemons and Lilly Jane Morrison Lemons Wiggins, he grew up in the Wagoner’s Chapel area of the county, was a 1965 graduate of Harrison County High School, a Purple Heart Veteran serving in both the US Marine Corps and the US Navy, and worked for many years as a security guard– at the Fayette Mall, Keeneland and the Red Mile. He was an avid reader and a very knowledgeable military historian. Billy loved taking walks, sometimes several miles a day, and was a devoted night owl. He took great pride in being independent and living a quiet life.
Surviving are a brother, Roy Lee Lemons; a nephew, Richard Lemons; a niece, Amanda (Andy) Sunda; his great-niece and nephews, Aleanna, Aidan and Aidric Lemons; several cousins; and special friends, Rita Gayle and Richard.
Also preceding him in death was his brother, Donald Edward Lemons.
In accordance with his wishes, Billy will be cremated and scattered on the Lowe Valley Farm.
There will be a Celebration of Life held later this fall.
