Ruth Johnson

Ruth Johnson, age 92, widow of Albert Lee Johnson Sr., died Sunday, August 9, 2026 at Saint Joseph Hospital. She was born April 14, 1934 in Bath County, daughter of the late Luther and Mattie Jones. Ruth was a former employee of Hansley Mill, Easy Gardner, and was a long time Walmart associate. She was a member of Central Baptist Church.
Ruth is survived by a son, Albert L. (Charlene) Johnson Jr.; two daughters, Vickie (William) Bretz, Alice (Gayle) Fields; grandchildren, Shawn Bretz, Mary (Kris) Hunter, Rebecca (Larry) Allison, Chris Johnson, Alber Lee Johnson III, Ashley (Brandon) Doughman, Ryan (Julie) Fields, Maranda Banks, Joanna (Matt) Robbins; and several great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Ruth was preceded in death by eight siblings.
In accordance with her wishes, there will be no service. Inurnment will take place in Bluegrass Memorial Gardens. Hinton-Turner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. www.hintonturner.com
