Donnie Clayton Crump

Donnie Clayton Crump, age 86, passed away peacefully at his Paris, Kentucky, home on August 23, 2026. He was born at home in Little Rock, Kentucky, on June 13, 1940, the only child of Herbert Paul Crump and Iva Lee Cassity Crump.
Donnie, along with his wife of 62 years, Wanda McKinney Crump, and his dad, Paul, built Don Crump Electric Service, Inc. The family business had a humble beginning but grew to thrive in the 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s, and continued with Donnie working alongside his son Clay. Electric was a trade Don excelled in and loved. He loved to tinker and had a knack for working the problem and figuring things out. Whether it be electrical, mechanical, carpentry, or welding – whatever the need, he was your guy. Even after retiring from the business, Donnie continued to tinker around his home and was often found in his shop.
Donnie served his country for six years in the Army Reserves. He enjoyed fishing and being on the water, especially on his houseboat at Cave Run Lake. He loved to reminisce about the good old days, old friends, and old cars. He always had a story to tell and was never without a good “corny” joke to share.
Donnie was baptized at Little Rock Christian Church when he was 8 years old, and he went to church every Sunday in front of his radio or watching Southland Christian Church on television with his wife.
In addition to his parents, Donnie was preceded in death by a beloved aunt and uncle, Rosa and Mason Jones, as well as many loved cousins and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda, his daughter, Margaret Leslie Ferrell (Glen), his son, Donnie Clayton “Clay” Crump Jr. (Beth Wyatt), three granddaughters: Leslie Ellen Ferrell Newby (Aaron), Kelsey Marie Ferrell Lycan (Daniel), and Hannah Elizabeth Edwards Crump, and two great grandchildren: Alaina Marie Lycan and Jacob Daniel Lycan.
Services for Donnie will be held on Friday, August 28, at Hinton-Turner Funeral Home in Paris, Kentucky, with Pastor Phil Richardson officiating. The visitation will be from 12-2 p.m., with the funeral service immediately following. Burial will be at Paris Cemetery.
