Gary Layne Harp, age 72, of Paris, Kentucky, departed this life on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at Baptist Health in Lexington, Kentucky. Gary was born in Paris, Kentucky on May 8, 1954, the son of the late William Henry Harp and Ivarene Tucker Becraft, was a graduate of Harrison County High School, attended Eastern Kentucky University, and was a retiree, having worked for several years at IBM. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Clay Harp.
Surviving are two sisters, Deborah (John) Beaton, Susan (Mark) Logan; and brother, Billy Ray Harp (Teresa). Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, and special friends.
In accordance with the wishes of Gary, cremation was chosen with a Celebration of Life to be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial donations to Paris Animal Welfare Society, 6 Legion Road, Paris, Kentucky 40361 or Bluegrass Hospice Care, 1317 US Highway 62E, Cynthiana, Kentucky 41031.
