Donald Ray Hutson

Donald Ray Hutson, 82, passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at his home in Paris, Kentucky.
He was born on May 18, 1944, in Paris, Kentucky, to the late Theodore Powell Hutson and Viola McFarland Hutson. Donald lived a life marked by kindness, friendship, and steady devotion to the people and places he loved. He graduated from Bourbon County High School and carried the values of hard work and responsibility throughout his life.
Donald was a retired Deputy Jailer for the Bourbon County Regional Detention Center and also retired from farming, a way of life that remained close to his heart. He took great pride in his work and in the simple, honest routines that shaped his days. Farming was more than an occupation to him. It was a lifelong passion that reflected his patience, perseverance, and deep appreciation for the land.
He was a member of the Catholic Church of the Annunciation in Paris, Kentucky, and lived his life as a Christian with quiet faith and humility. Donald found joy in spending time with his family, mowing, and watching The Andy Griffith Show. For many years, he also kept a journal of his daily activities, preserving the details of everyday life with care and consistency. Those who knew him will remember him as a kind and friendly man who valued family, faith, and the comfort of familiar routines.
Donald is survived by his wife of 60 years, Peggy Gene Rankin Hutson; his daughter, Christy (Vince) Wagner; four grandchildren, Zachary Ray (Meghan) Hutson, Haley (Matt) Hager, Hannah Wagner, and Robert Henderson; and five great-grandchildren, Clayton Hedges, Kathryn DeRay Marie Hutson, Henleigh Jewel Hager, Hutson Wayne Hager, and Heidi Layne Hager. He is also survived by his sister, Joan Glassman, along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Darren Ray Hutson. His family and friends will remember him for his gentle spirit, his dependable nature, and the love he shared so freely with those around him. Donald’s life was one of dedication, faith, and devotion to family, and his memory will remain a lasting blessing to all who knew and loved him.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Monday September 21, 2026, by Father Jeff Estacio at the Lusk-McFarland Funeral Home Chapel, 1120 Main St., Paris, KY. Burial will follow in the Mount Olivet Cemetery, Paris, KY.
Visitation was from 5-8 PM Sunday September 20, 2026, at the funeral home with a rosary service at 7:30PM.
Pallbearers were Marty Rankin, Harry Wayne Laytart, Randy Garrison, Zachary Hutson, Clayton Hedges, Aaron Welsh, Matt Hager and Robert Henderson.
Honorary pallbearers were Harry and Rosemary Laytart, Patty Rankin, Vince Wagner, Josh Patrick, Michelle Ward, Angela Hunt, Judy Blankenship, Tiffany Merrill and Cayla Blankenship.
