George William Avery

George William Avery, 90, formerly of Millersburg, husband of the late Ruby Golden Avery, passed away Sunday, December 22, 2019 at the V.A. Medical Center in Lexington.

Born March 30, 1929 in Nicholas County to the late Clarence & Anna Belle Hutchings Avery, he was a U. S. Army veteran, a former Kentucky Army National Guard member, a retired 28 year employee of the Bluegrass Army Depot and was a member of the Paris Church of Christ.

Left to cherish his memory are three sons: Gerald Avery, Damon Avery and Darrell Davis; three daughters: Sharon Avery Walker, Darchelle Cooper and Cheryl Gray; three brothers: Charles and William Coleman and Leonard Avery; and two sisters: Gertrude Cooley and Mae Hodge, along with 14 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and a great-great grandson.

Also, preceding him in death were two sons: Dwayne Avery & Tim Davis; a brother, Clarence Avery, Jr.; and three sisters, Patricia Casterlow, Anna Roberts and Mary Coleman.

Services were  12:00 Noon, Saturday, December 28, 2019 at the Paris Church of Christ officiated by Clay Leonard.  Burial with military honors was  in Millersburg Cemetery.

Arrangements were under the direction of Mathers-Gaunce Funeral Home.
