Larry Lynn Slone
Larry Lynn Slone, 80, of Old Silo Hill Drive passed away peacefully at Windsor Care Center under Hospice Care on Wednesday, June 17, 2020. He was born in Pike County, KY, October 15, 1939, the son of the late Lon and Hazel Coleman Slone. He was a retired Army Depot employee and cattle, hay and tobacco farmer. He served eight and half years in the Air Force 1961-1968, stationed in Bermuda, Spain, England and Florida. He was a very patriotic man with a deep love of his country. He was Gideon, he loved Bluegrass music, especially Bill Monroe, jigsaw puzzles and playing Scrabble. He is a member of the Reid Village Baptist Church, a former member of 35 years at Shawhan Baptist Church in Bourbon County, where he was a Sunday School teacher and a Head Deacon.
He was survived by his wife, Janice Gail Back Slone of Mt. Sterling, KY; a sister, Carol Gail Slone (L.R. Fortune) of Raleigh, NC; his beloved dog, Hazel; two brothers-in-law, Darrell Back and Bill Varga; two sisters-in-law, Crystal Lynn Daniels and Fay Back; four nieces, Sherry Moore Sutton, Beverly Fortune Lemey (Rick), Heather Daniels Rudd (Chad) and Valerie Daniels Williams (Leslie); six nephews, Bruce Moore (Melinda), Jeffrey Fortune (Nancy), Shane Back (Kim), Justin Daniels (Nicole), Christopher Daniels (Emily) and Robert Daniels (Shannon); several other great and great great nieces and nephews; and best friends of 68 years, Cardell Huff and Janet Sharon Huff.
Addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, Joyce Hope Varga; his mother and father-in-law, Heskle and Gladys Back; brother-in-laws, Larry Back and Roger Daniels; a sister-in-law, Thelma Back.
A funeral service will be held 1 PM, Friday, June 19, 2020 at Taul Funeral Home with Bros. Darrell Back, Todd Wiley and John Blanton officiating burial will follow in the Lovely and Amburgey Cemetery. Visitation will be 11-1 PM, Friday, June 19, 2020 at Taul Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Shane Back, Justin Daniels, Christopher Daniels, Robert Daniels, Jeff Fortune, Leslie Williams, Chad Rudd, Cardell Huff and Bruce Moore. Honorary pallbearers will be Janet Sharon Huff, Karen and Colie Davis, Sherry Colp, Barbara Puckett, Tommy and Betty Berry, Bill Varga, L.R. Fortune, Nesmer Cook, Pauletta Cook, Sharon and Bill Duncan, Jerry and Brenda Robertson, Beverly Herrington, Don and Carol Perkins, Mike Crisp, Juanita Townsend, Lily Stevens, Rita Stamper and all Gideon Brothers.
