Josie Susan Collins Grooms

Josie Susan Collins Grooms, widow of Vernon Grooms, departed this life on July 13, 2020 at St. Joseph Hospital in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky having attained the age of 102 years.  She was born at Means, Kentucky in Menifee County, the daughter of the late Silas Perkins Collins and Laura Amburgey Collins.  Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Loetta Fay Grooms, and two sisters, Goldie Miller and Dorthy Fletcher.  She was a member of the Peyton Lick Christian Church in later years, after spending over 50 years as a member and attending Spears Mill Baptist Church.
She is survived by her children, Harold Grooms (Nancy) and Bobby Grooms (Patsy), her grandchildren, Michael Grooms (Julia), Robin Fogle, Stephanie Jackson, (David) and Stephen Grooms (Michele), great-grandchildren, Michelle Sobolewski (Rob), Katelyn Adams (Eric), Gus Fogle, Jonathan Jackson, Sarah Jackson, Hayden Grooms and Harper Grooms, great-great-grandchildren, Briggs Sobolewski, Macoy Sobolewski, Olivia Adams and Sadie Adams. Darrell Lyons, her neighbor and friend, took care of her lawn and flowers for many years.
Her private funeral services will be conducted by Brother Charles “Chuck” Perry at Herald & Stewart Home for Funerals with burial to follow in Machpelah Cemetery.  The family requests no flowers.
