James Estes “Jim” Long
James Estes “Jim” Long, Sr., 73, husband of Margaret Ann Gay Long for 50 years, died Tuesday July 21, 2020 at his home. A native of Paris, KY, he was the son of the late Virgil Estes and Elsie Ruth Hedges Long.
He was retired from IBM, the City of Paris and Bourbon Heights and also farmed tobacco for decades. He was a member of the Central Baptist Church where he had served as the treasurer for the Deacons, the DAV Chapter 12, past/present Commander, Kentucky Colonel and a former Paris City Commissioner. He also enjoyed Bluegrass music and loved fishing.
In addition to his wife he is survived by, two children, James (Veronica) Long, Jr. and Ann Marie (Colby) Long Frederick; eight grandchildren, Cheyanna (Jeremy) Frederick Morrison, Leianna (Lucas) Frederick, Logan Frederick, Deanna Long, Austin Long, Dustin Boisseau, Sierra Boisseau and Amanda Boisseau; one great grandchild, Koda White; four sisters, Betty Reinsmith, Brenda (Rex) Cook, Mary (James) Dampier and Phyllis (Roy) Courtney; sister-in-law, Joyce Long; brother-in-law, Wayne Jones and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:30 AM Friday July 24, 2020 at the Paris Cemetery by Jonathan Graves. There will also be military honors performed at the funeral service.
Pallbearers will be Logan Frederick, Austin Long, Jeremy Morrison, Lucas White, Randy Long and Heath Small.
The family would like to remind everyone to please social distance or have a mask to use while at the funeral service for everyone’s safety.
