Mildred Smart Baber

Mildred Smart Baber, 94, died September 2, 2020, at her daughter’s home in Bourbon County. Mrs. Baber was a retired transportation clerk after 30 years with the Blue Grass Depot at Avon. She is a graduate of Paris High School where she was her senior class President, member of the Beta Club, attended Transylvania University, and was a member of Phi Mu sorority.

Mrs. Baber was a lifelong member of the First Christian Church, Paris, where she served as deacon, as a pianist in various capacities, and a member of the June Stanley Circle. She was a life member of the Paris Marie Chapter 167, Order of Eastern Star, as well as a long-time member of the The Rose Rebekah Lodge #7 where she served in several capacities and as Chaplin.

Mrs. Baber was preceded in death by her mother and father, Roy and Gertrude Smart; her brother, Calvin Smart; her sister, Bernice and brother-in-law, Joseph Maner. She is survived by her daughter and best friend, Carolyn (Billy, deceased) Barlow; her son, Roy T. (Janie) Baber; her granddaughters, Melissa (Dave) Bowman, Jacquelyn Baber, Amanda (Ryan) Hagen, Ashley Baber, and Katherine Casey; also surviving are her great grandchildren, Kirstin Hagen, Karson Hagen, Bersain Barlow, Aiden Casey, Henri Baber, and Addisyn Casey. She acknowledges as well, a very special friend, Linda McFarland.

The Life Celebration and funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 4, 2020, at Hinton-Turner Funeral Home in Paris, Kentucky, with burial in Paris Cemetery. Pall Bearers are Landon Allen, Joseph Arnold, Ryan Hagen, Dave Bowman, and her great grandchildren. Visitation will begin at 12 noon until time for the service.
