Dr. Edgar A. Wallace
Dr. Edgar A. Wallace transitioned from his earthly life to his heavenly home on December 2, 2020 at the age of 76. Dr. Wallace was born November 5, 1944 in Hartwell, West Virginia to Bishop Dr. Theodore C. Wallace and Mrs. Bonnie Goddard Wallace.
An esteemed pastor, educator, counselor, and entrepreneur who would always greet you with a kind word, a loving spirit, and a song in his heart. Dr. Wallace leaves behind a wonderful legacy of accomplishments and an unparalleled body of work. Dr. Wallace was a compassionate man who valued character over pedigree. He was a man who looked for the good in each person and usually found it. His legacy confirmed that public service is noble and necessary and that men can serve their community with integrity and hold true to important values like faith and family.
Dr. Wallace is survived by the love of his life for 55 years, Joyce Ann Buckner Wallace; siblings, Dr. Luela Wallace Hall of Lexington, KY, Bishop Thomas Cicero Wallace (Marcia) of Lexington, KY, Bishop Bernard Wayne Wallace (Anita) of Bakersfield, CA, Brenda Wallace Renfro (Elder Donald) of Lexington, KY, Elder Andre Wallace (Betty Jo) of North Tazewell, VA, and Ruby Mae ElBasha of Johnson City, TN; children, DeAntwana (Dee Dee) of Chicago, IL, Brian of Yellow Springs, OH, Cathleen of Xenia, OH, Erika Wallace Wakefield (Charles) of Pittstown, NJ; 16 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Dr. Wallace is preceded in death by his parents, Bishop Dr. Theodore C. Wallace, and Mrs. Bonnie Goddard Wallace; brother, the Honorable Theodore Calvin Wallace II; sister, Angela Wallace Ray, and daughters, Jerry Lynn Jameson and LeAngela Wallace.
The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the nurses, physicians, and staff of Sion Medical Center of the Kettering Health Network, in Beavercreek, who lovingly cared for Dr. Wallace and patiently provided updates to family.
Service for Dr. Edgar Wallace will be held on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 1120 South Detroit Street, Xenia, OH. Visitation will be noon until time of service which will be at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Dr. John E. Freeman Eulogist. Interment will follow on Thursday, December 9, 2020 at Evergreens Memorial Gardens, Lexington, KY.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic the family asks that if you are not feeling well or are immunocompromised please do not attend. Additionally, everyone will be required to wear a mask and maintain social distancing protocols during the visitation.
