Roger Allen Sargent

Roger Allen Sargent, 77, husband of Shirley Roe Sargent, died Wednesday, March 24, 2021, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born December 26, 1943, in Bourbon County, son of the late Floyd and Gertrude Franklin Sargent and attended the Bourbon County Schools. Roger was a retired Hinkle Contracting heavy equipment operator and was a member of the Paris City Club.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley; a son, Roger Sargent Jr.; daughter, Sheila (Bryan) Lanham; three grandchildren, David Allen Sargent, Emily Paige (Trey) Congleton, John Taylor Hinkson; two great grandchildren, Aubrey Ann Hinkson, Claire Sophia Congleton; two brothers, Harry Sargent, Bobby Sargent; three sisters, Brenda (Vernon) Holbrook, Wanda Smith, Alice (Billy) Smith; and many nieces and nephews. Roger was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Frances Overly, Carole Jean Tubbs, Patsy Cook; and two brothers, Jackie and Ronnie Sargent.
Visitation was 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, March 28, at the Hinton-Turner Funeral Home. Funeral service was 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 29, at the funeral home with interment in the Paris Cemetery. Casket bearers were Tommy Sargent, Harry Sargent Jr., Bryan Lanham, Michael Roe, Keith Roe, and Trey Congleton. The members of the Paris City Club served as honorary bearers. www.hintonturner.com
