Roy Lee Jefferson

Roy Lee Jefferson, widower of Georgia Elizabeth Shanks Jefferson, of Paris, departed this life on Friday, June 25, 2021, at the University Of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, having attained the age of 95 years. He was born on July 1, 1925, in Bourbon County, the son of the late Jesse and Lottie Richardson Jefferson, and attended Paris High School. Roy Lee was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in the 36th Infantry Division, Military Police. He received the EAME Theater Ribbon with Four Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal, Bronze Star Medal with Bronze Arrowhead, and two Purple Hearts from injuries received in Italy and France. Roy Lee was a member of the National Rural Letter Carriers Association, Paris Lodge #2, F&AM, Disabled American Veterans, Post 257 American Legion, and First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).
Surviving are his daughters, Kimberly Fryman, Jennifer (Jeff) Webb; grandsons, Alex (Courtney) Clark, Jesse (Holly) Webb; great grandchildren, Oliver Webb, Felicity Webb, Logan Clark, Austin Clark, Gracie Clark, Wyatt King; a brother, Garey Jefferson; and a sister, Ruth Liter.
The funeral service for Roy Lee Jefferson was held at 2:00 p.m., on Tuesday, June 29, 2021, at Hinton-Turner Funeral home with Rev. Jeff Bell officiating.
Casket bearers were Alex Clark, Jesse Webb, Jeff Webb, Jeff Weigott, Gayle Fields, Bobby Clark, and Bobby Weigott.
Visitation began at 1:00 p.m., until time for the service. Interment will be in Paris cemetery with military honors. www.hintonturner.com

    Sorry to hear of Roy Lee’s death. I have fond memories of him at family event when his mother and father lived on Parrish Ave. I’m sure he will be missed by many friends and family ‘
