Zinica “Gelu” Barbosu

Zinica “Gelu” Barbosu, 65, beloved husband of Rodica Iosipescu Barbosu for 24 years, passed away Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at Baptist Health, Lexington, KY.

Born in Vrancea, Romania, he was the son of the late Ion and Magdalena Barbosu. He was a machine operator at Montaplast in Frankfort, KY. He loved fishing, woodworking, yard work, spending time with family, and watching soccer. He raised quail, studied history and geography, and was a veteran of the Romanian Army where he worked in communications specializing in morse code. He was a member of the Holy Mother Queen of All GOC.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his three sons, Ciprian Zisu, Adi Barbosu and Edward Barbosu; two sisters, Tina Barbosu and Mary Stameulis and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Gelu loved his family above all else. He was very proud of his son and was a great provider. He will be missed by all that knew him.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m., Friday, January 21, 2022, at Lusk-McFarland Funeral Home, 1120 Main St., Paris, KY, by Father William Redmon. Burial will be in the Evergreen Memory Gardens.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m., until the time of service on Friday, January 21, 2022, at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Jason Barnett, Edmund Murrell, James Congelton, Joseph Mata, Jacob Sonnentag, and Marcel Ozarchevici.
