Clyde E. Marks, Sr.
Clyde E. Marks, Sr., husband of Rosetta Marks, was called home to be with our Lord and Savior on February 1st, 2022, having attained the age of 77. Clyde was born August 3rd, 1944, in Paris, KY, the son of the late Edward and Stella Mae Johnson Marks. He was a graduate of Paris High School, class of 1964. As a teenager, he and his two siblings, Billy and Gwen, were newspaper carriers for The Paris Daily Enterprise.
A retiree from Lexmark after 20 years of service, he started a second career with his lawn care business. He enjoyed cutting lawns for others, especially his “sweet petunias” and friends.
Clyde was a dedicated and devoted member of First Baptist Church at 128 W. 8th Street. He was an ordained deacon and served in various roles, including a Sunday School teacher, superintendent, member of the men’s choir, usher, and trustee. But, most notably, he was a humble man and a true servant of the Lord. As a man of faith, his daily affirmation was to go to the church to pray and meditate with his son—an act of devotion that has been instilled within Timmy, who carries out this practice to this day.
Besides his wife of 55 years, he is survived by two sons, Clyde Jr., and Timothy Wayne; three grandchildren, Haley, Kaliyah, and Jordan; three great-grandchildren, Khiyah, Amiyah, and Karter; niece, Nichelle Pool; nephew, Percy Pool, Jr.; great-niece, London Lopez; brother-in-law, Larry Porter (Robin); and sister-in-law, Anna Marks.
Clyde was preceded in death by a sister, Gwendolyn Pool; two brothers, William (Billy) and Wayne Franklin Marks; and close and dear friends, George Earl Turpin and Lorenzo Edwards.
He will be greatly missed by his family, his church family, and his many friends in the community.
