Donald Wayne Buckler
Donald Wayne Buckler, 63, New Castle, died Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at his home following an illness. A native of Paris, KY, he was raised by his grandparents, Nathan and Fannie Blevins Buckler. He was a 1976 graduate of Paris High School. He was helping at Lusk-McFarland Funeral Home in Paris and made the decision to go to mortuary school. He graduated from the Kentucky Mortuary School in 1980, serving his apprenticeship at Whitehall Funeral Chapel in Lexington, where he also assisted in the office of the Fayette County Coroner. He later became associated with the former Radcliffe Funeral Home in LaGrange. He then relocated to Shelbyville and became associated with Hall-Taylor Funeral Home. He later became associated with Ransdell Funeral Home in Bedford. After nearly 12 years in the funeral service business, Don decided to make a career change. He continued his education at Kentucky State University, where he graduated with a Bachelor’s in Liberal Arts and Criminal Justice. In his leisure time, he enjoyed fishing and golf. He also coached and watched all his children’s sports endeavors. He was a member of First Baptist Church in New Castle, where he sometimes led the children’s moments during the worship services.
Survivors include his wife of nearly 40 years, Angela R. Buckler of New Castle; his son, Nathaniel Allen “Nate” Buckler (Emily) of Cropper; his daughter, Katherine Elizabeth Buckler of New Castle and his grandson, Harrison Wayne Buckler of Cropper.
Cremation was chosen in accordance with his wishes. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, February 21, 2022, with a gathering of family and friends after 11 a.m. At the request of the family, masks will be required at the services. The cremated remains will be privately interred later.
