Ray D. Fields, Sr.
Ray D. Fields, Sr., 82, husband of Shirley Ann Patterson Fields, died Sunday, July 17, 2022, at the Harrison Memorial Hospital, Cynthiana, KY.
A native of Paris, KY, he was the son of the late William “Willie” Fields and Rachel Ann Roberts Fisher. He was a veteran of the United States Army, retired from the Army National Guard, a member of Veaches Chapel CME, and retired as a supervisor from the VA Hospital, Cooper Drive, Lexington, KY.
Ray was a UK fan, loved spending time with his grandkids, loved to hunt and do plumbing work, was a member of the American Legion Post 165, the 30/20 Club, and at church was a steward, trustee, choir member, and kitchen supervisor/manager.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Richard (Redondia) Fields and Brian Fields; six grandchildren, Jaron Fields, Brianna Fields, Brandon Fields, Bryson Fields, Shiray Fields, and Taylor Glover; one great-grandchild, Cairo Fields; one brother, Crit (Anita) Fisher, Jr.; special friend, Jim; a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins; two brothers-in-law, Shelton Patterson and Keith Patterson and two sisters-in-law, Ruby Kemper and Peggy (Raymond) Rice.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Ray D. Fields, Jr.; one brother, Ike Fields; two sisters-in-law, Ella Mae Gross, and Cozene Hawkins and three brothers-in-law, Frank Patterson, Clifton Patterson, and Ronnie Patterson.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Monday, July 25, 2022, at the Veaches Chapel CME, 236 Brentsville Road, Paris, KY by Rev. Archie Johnson. Burial will be in the Camp Nelson National Cemetery, Nicholasville, KY.
Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the hour of service Monday, July 25th at the church.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Fields, Bryson Fields, Travis George, Jim Ellington, Stanley Fisher, Miles Ezell, Phillip Thompson, Timothy Hawkins and Vincent Hawkins.
The funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Lusk-McFarland Funeral Home, 1120 Main St., Paris, KY.
