Catherine “Katie” Clark Hester

Catherine “Katie” Clark Hester, 75, wife of Allan Gillis Hester, passed away September 8, 2022, at Baptist Health Lexington. Born on October 25, 1946, in Lexington, she was a daughter of John “Jack” and Anne Masland Clark and spent her life in Paris and Louisville. She was descended from several Bourbon County pioneer families. At the University of Kentucky, she received a Master’s Degree and Rank I Certification in Special Education. After teaching Special Ed and substitute teaching, she worked for nearly 25 years at Ken’s Newmarket in Paris. Katie was one of the nicest people and was known for her sense of humor, right up to the end.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by daughters Jennifer (Travis) Mattox, Sharon Hester, and Sarah Hester, and grandchildren Clark and Jesse “Asher” Mattox, all of Paris; brothers Mike Clark and Dick Clark, sister Lizanne Singholka, and nephews John Clark, Noraseh and Rungsree Singholka, and Seth, Evan, and Holden Clark.

Visitation was Sunday, September 11 from 5-8 pm and the funeral was Monday, September 12 at 2 pm, both at Hinton-Turner Funeral Home. Katie Basham led the service. Burial was in the Paris Cemetery. Pallbearers were Clark, Asher, Travis Mattox and Seth, Evan, and Holden Clark. Honorary pallbearers were Mike Clark, Lizanne Singholka, and Dick Clark.

Katie showed her love and support for her children, other people’s children, and her grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make contributions in support of the Bourbon County Band’s 2022 appearance in Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade; both of her grandsons will be performing.
