James Gay “J.G.” Gilvin
James Gay “J.G.” Gilvin, the husband of Ann Marie Doyle Gilvin, departed this life on Friday, October 7, 2022, at Thomas-Hood Veterans Center in Wilmore, Kentucky, having attained the age of 90 years. He was born in Winchester, Kentucky on October 08, 1931, the son of the late Richard L. and Florence Craycraft Gilvin, he was a graduate of Saint Agatha’s Academy, attended the University of Kentucky, and was a veteran of the United States Navy. He was a retired salesman, having worked for Liggett & Myers, as well as having retired from building homes in Lexington, Kentucky.
In addition to his wife Ann, he is survived by their daughters, Mary Gay (Kyle) Whalen, Leigh Ann (Chuck) Weber, Margaret Kim (Mike) Buckley; sons, George R. “Dick” (Elaine) Gilvin, Jas. Kerry Gilvin, Joseph Patrick (Emalea) Gilvin, and Barry Doyle Gilvin. Also surviving are twenty-three grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren.
The Mass of Christian Burial for James Gay “J.G.” Gilvin was held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 14, 2022, at the Catholic Church of the Annunciation with Rev. Daniel Fister officiating. Interment followed in Mount Olivet Cemetery with casket bearers being his grandsons. Visitation began at 10:00 a.m. until the time for the service.
