Dorothy Traylor Nichols

Dorothy Traylor Nichols, age 98, of Bourbon County, passed away at her home on Thursday, November 24, 2022. Born in Harrison County, November 22, 1924, to the late Wallace and Christine Traylor.  She was also preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Charles William Nichols; a son, Barry William Nichols; four brothers, Howard “HC” Carl Traylor, William “Bill” Traylor, Herbert “Jack” Traylor, Charles Wallace Traylor; one sister, Mary Francis Traylor; a half-sister, Mary Jones; and three infant grandchildren.

Dorothy is survived by three sons, Danny Nichols, Stephen (Sandi) Nichols, Chuck (Audrey) Nichols; three half-brothers, Ronnie (Lucinda) Sparks, Ritsel (Brenda) Sparks, Gordon (Lorraine) Sparks; three nieces, Ann Shephard, Sue (Bob) Jonczyk, Ruth Clough; eleven grandchildren; forty-one great grandchildren; and five great great grandchildren.

She enjoyed country living, horses, family, friends, reading, crossword puzzles, feeding her wild and hummingbirds, and her beloved dog, Nicki. Dorothy was content being a housewife and a mother to her four boys and grandchildren.  Later retiring from Square D Company.

Services were held at Ware Funeral Home, Cynthiana, KY, November 29, 2022, at 1:00 PM, Brother Seth Adamson and William Brown will be speaking.  Visitation was prior to the funeral service beginning at 11:00 AM until the time of services, also at Ware Funeral Home.  Burial was at Battle Grove Cemetery following services.  Dorothy’s grandsons and great grandsons served as Pallbearers.  Donations may be made to one of the following:  Bluegrass Care Navigators, 1317 US Hwy 62, Cynthiana, KY 41031; American Cancer Society, PO Box 22478, Oklahoma, OK 73123; American Heart Association, PO Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692.  View and sign guestbook at www.warefuneralhome.com

    I was sad to hear about Mrs. Nichols passing. I enjoyed visiting her when we came back to see our family. She was a great friend to my grandparents and will be missed.
