Joe Allen Smart

Joe Allen Smart, 67, departed this life surrounded by loved ones on Friday, November 25, 2022, at his home in Paris, Kentucky.  Joe was born in Paris, Kentucky, on June 8, 1955, the son of the late Joe Oliver and Flora Mae Ellison Smart.  He was a graduate of the 1973 class of Paris High School, attended Union College on a football scholarship and then transferred to Eastern Kentucky University.  He was a lifelong Paris resident, retired from a career in the sales industry and was an active member of the Seventh Street Christian Church.  Additionally, Joe enjoyed watching UK Sports, golfing, woodworking, and canning vegetables from his garden. The one thing that made Joe the happiest was spending time with classmates, friends, and family.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Harvey Dennis Smart.

Surviving are daughters, Megan Allison (Jeff) Zinner, Veronica Layne (Hardy) Dungan, and Rachel Lauren (Bunly) Chan.  Also surviving are grandchildren, Peyton Makenzie Zinner, Gracen Quinn Zinner, Elijah Alexander Smart-Dungan, Silas Andre Smart, Christian Lee Sloas, Lucas Eduardo Vazquez, Madeline Hope Chan, and Roxy Elise Chan; sister-in-law, Marilyn Merringer Smart; niece, Kimberly Anne Smart; and a nephew, David Ellison Smart.

A Celebration of Life will be on Tuesday, December 6th, from 5:00-8:00 PM, at Paris Livery located at 226 Pleasant Street, Paris, KY.  In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to Paris Greyhound Hall of Fame, c/o Todd McConnell, 1833 South Main St., Paris, KY 40361.    www.hintonturner.com
