Maurice Alexander Marks

Monday, September 20, 1971, Gail Marks and Clifton Garrard was blessed with a handsome bundle of joy and he was named Maurice Alexander Marks aka “Ducci”, Mo”, “Mo Platinum”, “Brotha” and “PapPaw.”

God let us “borrow” him for a little while, until he was ready for him to strap on his wings and fly away. That illness is evil, this is devastating! Hearts are broken! During any sickness or any struggles, he never wanted to bother anyone and pretty much kept it all to himself, with his excuse being, “I didn’t want to bother anyone” or “didn’t want you worrying about me.” Well any thoughts of “bothering or worrying” anyone which you never did, is over now … Now we’re MISSING you.

If his funds were low, he would ask to borrow the exact change… If something was $4.79, he would not ask for $5. As long as he had his Mountain Dew and his Black & Milds, he was good to go.

During his younger days, you could find him in all of the little league sports via his grandaddy Frank Marks. You could also find him with a couple of others “beatboxing”, “Pop locking”, or making beats, and in his later years, being a DJ and still making beats. He also wrote a few songs. He thought that he was the 6th member of “New Edition”, doing the dance routines and all…. visualize that.

Even the day before he “eased away”, he was still trying to beatbox and sing and that was funny. He attended Paris High School. He worked at Leono’s and then he worked at IBM for a while.

“Ducci” loved to travel and was always ready to go. One of the loves of his life was his light blue Mazda RX7 that his mother gave him. That car…. He loved these things HE called “Sickle Bikes”, to you that’s motorcycles. Ducci was an easy going, nonchalant man with a love for many things and was loved by many.

Besides his Mother, Gail Coraetta Marks, he was preceded in death by his Grandparents, Benjamin & Betty Marks and George & Mary Elizabeth “Mag” Garrard; his Aunts, Anna Rose Marks Moody and Wilma Jean Marks Dottin; a Nephew, Aaron Ray Speller, and several other relatives.

Left here to keep his memories alive are his Father, Clifton Garrard; Children, Jairam Cloud and DiZaiyer Hill; Grandson, Castiel Cloud; Brothers, Chez Marks, Jerrell Williams and Adrian Garrard; Nieces/Nephews, Ciera and Chez Tye, Ayriana Garrard, Tyre Garrard and Adonis Garrard; Aunts/Uncles, Sarah (Sam “Tack”) Stevenson, Phillip (Venita) Garrard, Maurice (Janet) Garrard; Great-Aunt, Geraldine Ransom; 1st Cousins, David Dottin, Terri (Ray) Speller, Karen (Collin) Ricketts, Jon Stevenson, Kevin (Charlene) Dottin, Michelle (Darwin) Scott, LaDawn Patterson, Craig (Maria) Dottin, Phillip (Rachel) Garrard Jr., Maurice Garrard Jr., Jermaine Garrard, Ashley Garrard, Lisa (B.T.)
