James Thomas “Jim” Cartmill

James Thomas “Jim” Cartmill, 84, of Paris, formerly of Winchester,
passed away Tuesday, February 28, 2023 at the VA Medical Center-Leestown
in Lexington.

Born February 4, 1939 in Nicholas County to the late John William &
Ethel Sosby Cartmill, he was a U.S. Army Veteran, a longtime pari-mutuel
clerk at several area racetracks and member of the Paris City Club.

Survivors include his brother, Frank (Peggy) Cartmill, of Paris; a
daughter, Cheryl (Lee) Clark, of Dallas, Georgia; his grandchildren:
Maeghan Elisabeth Cartmill, Maereah Isabella (Jake) Daniel, Jarrett
Tyson Cartmill, Tiffany Nicole (Josh) Holstrom, Tara Leigh Clark & Tesla
Lynn Clark; his nieces and nephews: Donna Howard Honican, Timmy Howard,
Dana Cartmill Willson, Kenny Cartmill & Jane Switzer; and his
daughter-in-law, Teresa Cartmill, along with several
great-grandchildren, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Also preceding him in death were his first wife, Virginia Mitchell
Cartmill, and their son, Darrell Cartmill; his second wife, Carolyn
Altom Cartmill; a sister, Deloris Howard, and a half-brother, Kenneth
Cartmill.

Inurnment with Military Honors will be 11:30 A.M. Saturday, March 25th
at Clarmont Memorial Gardens in Winchester.

Cremation arrangements are under the care and direction of
Mathers-Gaunce Funeral Home.

    Truly sorry to hear of James passing! I enjoyed our conversation, fun and especially his laugh. He always had a great story to share and I will miss his friendship.
