Sandy Grimes Boone
The University of Kentucky Wildcats lost one of their biggest fans as Sandy Grimes Boone, 71, passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2023, surrounded by family at the St. Anthony’s Hospice Lucy Smith King Care Center. Sandy maintained her passionate love of life, family, and friends after a years-long battle with ALS.
Along with the Kentucky Wildcats, Sandy loved the beach, tennis, traveling, decorating for all holidays and seasons, shopping, and hanging out with her friends and family. She loved children and never met a stranger. The Easter egg hunts and Christmas stockings that she created for her grandchildren will live in infamy.
Sandy was born in Paris, Kentucky, and attended Bourbon County High School. She earned her bachelor’s degree in education from Eastern Kentucky University and her master’s from Western Kentucky University. She taught at Bend Gate Elementary for many years and in various schools in the Henderson County system after her retirement.
She is survived by her husband, Tom; two daughters, Ashley Dillbeck (Chris) of Owensboro, Kentucky, and Erin Nase (Jason) of Louisville, Kentucky; her mother, Louise, of Paris, Kentucky; her brother, Mike, of Paris, Kentucky; six grandchildren, Harrison Dillbeck, Noah Dillbeck, Campbell Dillbeck, Grayson Nase, Aydie Nase, and Merritt Nase; and nieces and nephews.
Visitation was at Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 2, 2023, and from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Monday, April 3, 2023, with a memorial service to follow immediately at the funeral home. The Reverend Mike Snyder will officiate.
Sandy wanted to have her life remembered in a celebratory fashion and asked that everyone wear colorful attire rather than black to her services.
