James Douglas Frakes
James Douglas Frakes, also known as Jim, Jimmy, Papa Car, and Handsome Jimmy, passed away June 3, 2023. He was born March 17, 1943 in Paris, KY. He is survived by his children, Kelli (Brad) and Justin (ReBecca); grandchildren, Monroe, Lucia, AJ, Hallee, Brennan, Taeryn, Madison, and LeighAnn; great-grandchildren, Kaden and Jace; sister, Ruth; numerous nieces, nephews, ex-wives, and ex-girlfriends. Jimmy was preceded in death by his grandmother and Aunt Drusie that raised him; parents, Elgen and Bessie; siblings, Roger, Betty, Jane, and Helen.
He dedicated himself to service. He was a Marine and attended basic training at Parris Island. After a career in theater management, he found his true passion as a police officer. He retired as a Captain from the Paris Police Department in 2008 after 28 years of service.
Arrangements are still pending. The family asks that instead of condolences, please share stories about Jimmy, particularly funny ones. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Wesley’s Place or Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.).
