James William King, “Wildman”

James William King, “Wildman”, “Billy” was born December 23, 1970, and left us unexpectedly Sunday, July 9, 2023. He leaves to cherish his memory his parents Everal and Janie Guimond, his sister Jenny King, two step-sisters Laura Guimond and Janel (Gary) Squire, a nephew Gavin Squire, his Uncle (and father figure) Joe Wright, a large extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins, and numerous treasured lifelong friends.
Billy lived his life on his own terms, finding satisfaction and peace in his simple life. He was kind and smart, a self-proclaimed jack of all trades, whose career ranged from drywall to plumbing to carpentry and beyond. He loved spending time with his family and friends whether he was playing cornhole, watching NASCAR, sharing interesting information on pretty much any subject, or talking with everyone from young to old.
Billy always carried his fishing gear with him just in case he came across a good fishing hole. His angling adventures took him from Stoner Creek in Bourbon County, KY, to the Atlantic Ocean, from Carolina Beach to Tampa Bay to the Gulf of Mexico and everywhere in between. He fished with his papaws, his dad, his aunts, uncles and cousins, his mom and sister, his friends from high school and from every other stage of his life—basically, with anybody who would go with him.
Football was his first real passion. He played linebacker for the Bourbon County Colonels from ’84 to ’88 and excelled at both understanding and playing the game. He loved NASCAR; we reminded him often that he was not, in fact, a NASCAR driver. He loved tinkering and working on cars. He was always willing to jump in and help on any project. He loved fish and seafood of any kind, any dish with deer, boudin sausage, a baloney sandwich, and especially an ice-cold Ale-8. Billy had a unique connection with animals. He charmed and played with every animal he met (many times getting down on the ground rolling around with them).
A casual gathering was held Saturday, July 15th at 2:00pm. to honor Billy at his Uncle Joe’s house at 133 Oldson Road, Paris, KY 40361.

Cremation arrangements were under the direction of Drake-Whaley-McCarty Funeral Home in Cynthiana.
