Betty Wells Long

Betty Wells Long, age 87, widow of Leonard Long, died on July 16, 2023, at home in North Middletown, surrounded by family. She was born in North Middletown to the late Albert Vernon Wells and the late Jeanette Wells and graduated from Pinkerton High School as valedictorian and Midway Jr College as salutatorian. Betty was a long-time member of the North Middletown Christian Church and served as clerk for 31 years, just retiring in June. She retired as bookkeeper from Long & McDonald, Inc. and was a Kentucky Colonel.
Betty is survived by two children, Lynne (Rusty) Coburn and Mark (Christy) Long; six beloved grandchildren – Justin (Samantha) Carolin, Christian Haynes, Kayla Singer, Lauren Long, Jacob Coburn (Jaylah Hayes) and Haley (Casey) Watson; five-great-grandchildren, Ty Singer, Levi Singer, Irie Hayes, Lucien Henry, and Bailey Watson. Also surviving is a sister, Gwendolyn (William) Henson, stepbrother, Albert (Sharon) Wells Jr.; sisters-in-law, Janice Detore and Mary Long; and several cherished nieces and nephews, as well as two special friends, Dollie Jones and Barbara Mook.
Betty devoted herself to family. She enjoyed lake trips, visiting the ocean, fishing, her flower gardens, and was an avid UK fan.
A memorial service will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 22, at the North Middletown Cemetery with Rev. Stephanie Moon officiating.
