Betty Jo Prather Turner

Betty Jo Prather Turner, of Cynthiana, widow of Joe Turner, Jr., departed this life on Wednesday, July 19, 2023, at Grand Haven Nursing Home, at the age of 89 years. Betty Jo was born on November 5, 1933, in Bourbon County, the daughter of the late Joe and Lois Burris Prather, and was a 1953 graduate of Bourbon County Vocational School. She retired from the Bourbon County School System where she served thirty-three years as a bus driver and a member of Peyton’s Lick Christian Church. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, family gatherings, reading, crossword puzzles, and wrote in her diary daily. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, June Fritsch, and brother, John Burris Prather.
Surviving are two daughters, Mary Ann (Keith) Adams, Carol Jean (Darald, Jr.) Fischer; a son, Thomas Clark (Kim) Turner; grandchildren, Tommy (Jessie) Turner, II, April (Chase) Smith, Josh (Olivia) Turner, Adam (Jennifer) Yazell, Brandon (Tabitha) Adams, Ashley (Josh) Masterson, LeAnne (Brad) McCord, and Allen Fisher. Also surviving are her great grandchildren, Tommy III, Katelyn, Dillon, Ethan, Ella, Oliver, Harper, Brooke, Whitney, Taylor, Jacob, Peyton, Nevaeh; and one great great grandchild, Thomas Clark Turner, IV.
The funeral service for Betty Jo Prather Turner was at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, July 21, 2023, at Hinton-Turner Funeral Home with Rev. C.J. Epperson officiating. Interment was in Peyton’s Lick Cemetery with casket bearers being Tommy Turner, II, Tommy Turner, III, Adam Yazell, Josh Turner, Brandon Adams, and Allen Fischer. Honorary bearers were Harold Grooms, Gene Sherman, Ralph Tobia, Tommy Bennet, Mark Earlywine, Mark Walls, Tom Robinson, and Nelson Dunaway.
