George Washington, Jr.

George Washington, Jr.: March 25, 1933 – July 27, 2023

On March 25, 1933, the Angel of the Lord delivered a precious gift to George and Ollie Taylor Small Washington.  They named him George Washington Jr.

George or as he was affectionately known as “Chink” grew into a fine young man who followed in the footsteps of his grandfather and father and became a masonry contractor.  He married at a young age.  He and his wife, Elizabeth, were blessed with three children, Connie, Lonnie (who passed shortly after birth) and Stephen.  George and Elizabeth continued onto different roads later in life.

He married Essie Janice Jones Johnson in 1976.  A blended family was born with the addition of her two daughters.

In later years, he drove a truck hauling block and other materials and had his own landscaping business.

He will be remembered as a kind, loving person that was always willing to help.

On a bright sunny morning, July 27th, 2023, in Bellevue, Nebraska at the home of his son, Stephen with whom he resided, he made the transition from this earth to his heavenly resting place.

George was predeceased by his parents, son, Lonnie and daughter Connie Washington Whitlow and his aunt, Melissa Washington Clay.  He is survived by his son Stephen (Lora), granddaughters, Stephanie Washington Hanson (her sons, Marcus and Brenden), Shavonne (Adam)Washington-Krauth (their sons, Cooper and Hunter) and Heather Whitlow.  Grandson, Sean (Kristine) Whitlow and his daughter, Cheyenne.  His wife, Essie, her daughters (Lillian and Barbara), their children, and grandchildren.  He is also survived by a special cousin/sister, Mrs. Flora Mae Nichols, and other cousins and friends too numerous to mention.

We will miss him greatly, but we know that he is in the arms of his savior and is at peace.  Fly high.  Till we meet again.

A celebration of Life will be held on Monday, August 7, 2023, at Lusk-McFarland Funeral Home 1120 Main Street Paris, Kentucky at 11:00 a.m.
